Emily Tanner-Smith, PhD, is a Thomson Professor in the Counseling Psychology and Human Services Department and Executive Director of the HEDCO Institute for Evidence-Based Educational Practice at the University of Oregon’s College of Education. She is an applied research methodologist with expertise in quantitative methods and research synthesis for evidence-based decision-making, with a specific emphasis on preventing and treating substance use among youth. She was a collaborator on an NIH-funded evaluation study that demonstrated the effectiveness of recovery high schools.
